A few thoughts on picking a sponsor!
+Can be local or long distance- the program is set up to be virtual or in person.
+It cannot be a parent!
+While it’s a beautiful way to honor someone in your life that you look up to, ultimately it should be someone who understands what it means to live a Catholic faith, who has the time and is willing to walk with you through the process and beyond, and has experience in the ups and downs of living as a Catholic Christian!
+While an older sibling or cousin is good, let us challenge you to pick someone who is a veteran of the faith. Someone who has both head and heart knowledge of what it means to live as a Catholic in this world! Those close in age to our Confirmation students are still finding their own way and may not be able to answer the hard questions or have even learned how to be a good model yet.
+How do you know if they will make a good sponsor: Are they going to Mass regularly? Do they know the resources that can be used to answer questions? Do they participate in service and faith activities like Bible Study? These make great sponsors!
